Juniper grew up in the Ymir Greatwood and though happy enough, every night she would climb the tallest tree and look to the stars, dreaming of flying among them in an airship of her own.When her brother, Briar, is seen leaving the Greatwood in the company of a strangely-dressed group of outsiders and is exiled in absentia, Juniper packs a bag and steals away that same night to find her brother and find her fortune in the great wide world.Blunt to a fault and always eager for a fight, Juniper can rub some people the wrong way. She finds it hard to empathise with those she feels are being foolish. But underneath the tough exterior, Juniper likes to help people stand on their own two feet and seize their dreams.Juniper refuses to be a victim and she refuses to let others be either.

Always hiding in his sister's shadow, Briar hated the day his gender was revealed and he had to leave and learn to live alone. Quiet and good-natured, he hated hunting, although he learned to survive and protect by whatever means necessary.One day, Briar was caught unawares and captured by a group of roving huntsmen who'd ventured into Viera territory. He managed to escape them in Limsa and began to hunt for a way back to the Ymir Greatwood and to Juniper, though oddly noone seems to recognise the name.The longer it takes him, the more Briar begins to wonder if he really wants to go back at all.
